USA Badminton, in conjunction with its newly formed Collegiate Club League, will be hosting a four-team tournament in North Tonawanda, New York, on March 25, 2018.
Carnegie Mellon University, Case Western Reserve University, Cornell University and SUNY Oswego will play in a four-team tournament at Rally Niagara Badminton located between Buffalo and Niagara Falls. Rally Niagara Badminton, opened in March 2011, is a dynamic and diverse community badminton club featuring open play, youth and adult instruction, and league play.
Rally Niagara owner, Michael Hacker, sees this as great opportunity to highlight competitive collegiate badminton in the Western New York area.
“Western New York for many years has been a hotbed for recreational and competitive badminton play. Hosting a competitive collegiate tournament is an amazing opportunity for many in the local community to experience the excitement of the sport of badminton. There will be many collegiate players participating, displaying various techniques and skills.“
The universities will be playing team matches comprised of all five badminton disciplines, men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. This will be the first mini-tournament of its kind affiliated with the USAB Collegiate Club League.
Additionally, Carnegie Mellon will play Case Western and Cornell will take on SUNY Oswego in league play.
