University of Rochester - Winners of the 2023 Rally Niagara Cup
On Saturday, November 11th, 90 players, 50 teams gathered at the Bell Sport Center for intense badminton game play. Players from NYS included participants from Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, and New York City. Regional players that participated were from distant locals that included Southern Ontario, Ohio, & Virginia. Thank you to all who participated and congratulations to our winners. Men's Doubles:
"A" division:
1st place - Jerry Wong (Rally Niagara) & Zarni Htay (Rally Niagara) won in an exciting finale over 2nd Place -Ryan Fong (Rally Niagara) & Chris Low (Buffalo Badminton Club) 21-16, 21-17. Being an all Buffalo cast they obviously knew each others game well. The match featured some impressive shots with many laughs afterwards.
Jerry & Zarni (1st place)
"B" division:
1st place - Alvin Feng (Univ of Buffalo) & Leo Li (Rally Niagara) outlasted 2nd Place -Dawei Wang (Jinling) & Shengcheng Tao (Jinling) 20-22, 22-20, 21-16.
"C" division:
1st place - MD Sayfur Rahman (N/A) & Khayrul Islam (Rally Niagara) played an intense and long match prevailing over 2nd Place -Bhargava Ungata (Univ of Buffalo) & Sreemithra Jiladi (Univ of Buffalo) 16-21, 21-16, 21-17.
"D" division:
1st place - Benjamin Nathabheem (RIT) & Anshuman Singh (RIT) won against an upcoming young high school team 2nd Place -Cyrus Clabeaux (Williamsville South) & Oscar Guzzino (Williamsville South) 21-19, 21-8.
Women's Doubles:
"A" division:
1st place - Shaw-Ree Chen (Independent) & Wendy Tang (Rally Niagara) relied on their experience to win against an upcoming team from the University of Buffalo - 2nd Place - Amruta Bhat (Univ of Buffalo) & Yahan Liu (Univ of Buffalo) 21-19, 21-9.

"A" division:
1st place - Quan Le (Univ of Rochester) & Sarika Gokhale (Univ of Rochester) played an extremely strong game against a combined Buffalo/Rochester team - 2nd Place - Ryan Fong (Rally Niagara) & Jiachun Guo (Univ of Rochester) 21-11, 15-21, 21-13.

1st place - Zarni Htay (Univ of Buffalo) & Jennifer Callol (Henrietta) won over 2nd Place -Fahad Muzahid (Buffalo BD Badminton) & Esther Jose (Rally Niagara) 21-14, 21-14.

1st place - Benjamin Nathabheem (RIT) & Tracy Chun (RIT)) won a close on over hometown favorites 2nd Place -Bobby Majdanik (Rally Niagara) & Ivy Xu (Rally Niagara) 17-21, 21-13, 21-18.
Men's Singles:
"A" division:
1st place - Quan Le (Univ of Rochester) won in the finale against his doubles partner 2nd Place -Jaysen Cong (Anchorage) 21-9, 21-13.

1st place - Xiaochen Fang (Syracuse Univ) over fellow collegian 2nd Place - Yong Qiao (Syracuse Univ) 23-21, 21-16.
"D" division:
1st place - Kanchan Rai (Greater Rochester Bhutanese) over 2nd Place - Namsang Subba (Greater Rochester Bhutanese) 21-19, 21-15.
Women's Singles:
"A" division:
1st place - Sarika Gokhale (Univ of Rochester) won convincingly over 2nd Place -Emily Baskind (Capital District) 21-13, 21-11.
